Prospective Undergraduate Researchers
Interested in plants and the great outdoors? The Chang lab is looking for motivated undergraduates interested in learning about plant ecology!
Research in the lab includes a combination of doing literature reviews, data analysis, lab work (eg. measuring plant traits, weighing or counting seed/leaf samples, analyzing herbarium samples), greenhouse experiments, and field work on Mount St. Helens (eg. collecting plant and soil samples, assessing plant species abundance, measuring plant traits).
Independent student projects
Students (particularly sophomores and juniors) who are interested in pursuing an independent research project in plant ecology are also encouraged to contact me! I have several opportunities and projects for motivated students who are interested in dedicating multiple quarters on an independent research project. We can work together to find something that fits your interests! Funding opportunities would also be available for interested students via fellowships such as Mary Gates Foundation or UW NASA Summer grants. While not guaranteed, the hope is that this opportunity will lead to authorship in a future publication.
If you are interested in any of the above opportunities, please email Dr. Chang at [email protected] with a short introduction about yourself including: 1) name, 2) major, 3) year, 4) a few sentences why you would be interested in doing research in the lab.
Prospective Graduate Students and Postdoctoral Researchers
University of Washington-Bothell does not currently have a graduate program for masters or PhD students. Unfortunately at this time, I do not have funding for postdoctoral researchers. Although I welcome interested candidates to contact me about the possibility about jointly applying for funding opportunities.
